Each regular meeting starts with a guest speaker presentation, followed by our monthly auction. We also have a raffle and a sales table with club merch and fish bagging supplies. The Sacramento Aquarium Society is excited to host a presentation by Michael Köck at our next general meeting!
Michael Köck is a biologist and lifelong aquarist based in Austria, best known as the founder and Chair of the Goodeid Working Group (GWG).
He spent over 18 years as a curator at the Haus des Meeres aquarium in Vienna before dedicating himself fully to freshwater fish conservation. Through the GWG and initiatives like the Mexican Goodeid Action Plan, Michael has brought together hobbyists, scientists, and institutions worldwide to protect and preserve endangered goodeid species. His work combines captive breeding, habitat restoration, and public outreach, making him a leading voice in the global effort to save these unique livebearers from extinction.
