Sacramento Aquarium Society

Aquarium Hobby in Northern California
The Sacramento Aquarium Society (SAS) is a local registered 501 C (3) non-profit organization with an objective to encourage and further the interest of the care and propagation of tropical fish, invertebrates, and aquatic plants and to promote the exchange of information between amateur aquarists.
History of the SAS
The Sacramento Aquarium Society has a rich history, and is one of the oldest Aquarium Societies in the US. Much of our history has been recorded thanks to local newspapers and archives.
Notable events range from fish shows with thousands of attendees to the SAS being the birthplace of the Albino Aeneus Cory. You can also find images of old event posters as well as the scrapbook of a former president.
If you would like to check out old copies of our newsletter the “Tropical News”. our archive reaches back to 1955 and is available online.
Monthly General Meetings
Meetings feature a guest speaker followed by a Live Fish, Invertebrate, and Plant Auction, typically with selling prices lower than retail and offering many species not available at local fish stores.
When: Typically the 1st Saturday of each month at 3:00 pm

In addition, we host two mega auctions each year, where anyone is invited to sell, even if they are not members.
